Deal with problems when the occur. Letting problems pile up will only produce more stress later on.

Don't get caught up in daily complaints. Develop selective attention and only worry about complaints that will hurt the Order.

When frustrated, take three long breaths, hold and let them out. Breathe slowly while working the issue.

Schedule time for airing problems and concerns. Although this will not fully eliminate urgent problems, setting time aside will make things less stressful since very few problems will spring out on you unexpectedly.

Be careful when scheduling your leisure hours. Schedule some time to be alone and take an occasional break from a chapter meeting or event.

If you see a need for change, find a way to lead others toward that change. Having others who agree with you will make the change easier.

Don't be afraid to laugh, especially at yourself. It's ok to show the members that you are human and can have a good time.

Smile and greet everyone you see. If there is a new face, be sure to meet him. It will allow the guys to know who you are, and you will know who the guys are.

Don't fret if a task or project does not get done on time. If the members make a mistake, then it is ok to have them learn from it.

Get out and find out what older members are doing now. Get together with other Senior DeMolays or Masons and play catch up or just talk about the fun times you had as a youth in DeMolay. |
